Ignite Chelmsford – Analogue – ONLINE

Ignite Chelmsford – Analogue – ONLINE 9 April 2020
Join us for our first online meetup discovering our speakers who work to keep traditional analogue photography, and vinyl records alive!

About this Event

Every second Thursday of the month, Ignite hosts a social meet-up – an inspiring cross discipline gathering and an opportunity to learn how we can support one another’s work in the City. This year we have programmed a selection of STEAM focused speakers celebrating creative endeavours from the analogue to the digital.

Despite us not being able to physically meet we have decided to follow the trend and go digital! This month we will be welcomed to the worlds of photography and records, the technologies that underpin these artforms has changed drastically over the last few years, we can make entire movies and listen to endless libraries and even produce music on our phones.

In light of taking things slow in these times, we want to host an open session this month to chat to the key people who are behind the thriving communities that are keeping these traditional processes going right on our doorsteps!

Speaker 1: Jack Briggs Miller from Darkroom 37

He will be chatting about the collective photography darkroom DR37 that was started in 2017 by a group of Colchester based Photographers, each with a passion for analogue photography and keeping the traditional photography processes alive. DR37 is a non for profit Darkroom Collective, with membership paying towards studio costs, chemicals and free workshops for its members.

Speaker 2: Jon Shuffle from Intense Records

Jon will chat about Intense Records Chelmsford’s independent record shop established 1999 vinyl specialist in drum and bass music. They have been supplying the music and djs for our meetups for the last 2 years, and its time we heard from them! Intense is a landmark for vinyl collectors in Essex, each summer they open their shop for the Record Store Day – Christmas Day for vinyl lovers offering exclusive vinyl releases and an in shop party! Intense are also participating in a new campaign called Record Store Of The Day launched, to support independent record shops during the Coronavirus pandemic.
