Sandford Mill Nature Reserve – a virtual guided tour

Sandford Mill Nature Reserve – a virtual guided tour 18 September 2020

The nature reserve at Sandford Mill is the former Borough of Chelmsford waterworks and is now an Industrial Museum Store in a magical rural setting just minutes away from the busy city centre.

Originally a medieval watermill, on a river spur off the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation, the site was converted to a waterworks in the 1920s and developed further in 1950. In more recent years the area around the old waterworks has become an exclusive secluded nature reserve, which can now only be visited on special occasions. The rewards of this are a natural habit and wildlife that sees very little human intervention.

We are lucky therefore to be able to offer this special guided tour of this reserve which is only open on very few occasions.
