July 2020 would have seen the planned return of Chelmsford Carnival. It may have been postponed for now but don’t let that stop you spicing up your life with some creative costume-making magic at home.
In anticipation of the carnival’s eventual return, whether that be later this year or next, Chelmsford Arts & Cultural Festival have challenged an artist – Mandy Rose of The Grand Theatre of Lemmings – to create a head dress out of ‘stuff you’d find at home’.
And the video below is what she came up with. It’s brilliant. And ideal if you are looking to do something creative with the kids.
Grab a cuppa and watch along. Then arm yourselves with materials and get going. Top tip: Straws work just as well for sticking on the leaves, this will make sense once you have watched the video.
Get creative and get busy making as you just never know – we might yet get to wear them this year. And if not, you’ll have something fabulous to wear around the house and will be extremely well-prepared for Carnival 2021!
